nuTravel rebranding RESX, opens a Dallas office with former RESX staff joining nuTravel effective May 1, 2012
Five months after its acquisition of the RESX corporate online booking tool, nuTravel Technology Solutions (nuTravel) has unveiled plans to rebrand RESX as an enhanced nuTravel offering to its already growing line of solutions under the nuTravel name, as well as providing some significant developments and maintain the RESX platform indefinitely.
As part of the acquisition, nuTravel has opened a Dallas office – staffed with former RESX employees – who will officially join the nuTravel team on May 1, 2012.
“I am extremely pleased that the RESX team are joining nuTravel – there is a core team that has been together since the beginning, and has been able to do some amazing things with the RESX product,” said Carmine Carpanzano, nuTravel president and CEO. “nuTravel knows the value of this and is adding a group of subject matter experts to an already highly talented team – bringing tremendous value to nuTravel, its customers and prospects.”
Some of the enhancements that are coming outside of the general roadmap are the adding of ITA shopping, expanding the travel policy engine, and a UI upgrade.
“nuTravel grew up as a company in the underserved SME space, but since the acquisition of RESX, it now has an offering that serves the large market and global customer,” added Carpanzano. “This rounds out our solutions offering and makes us a unique supplier to the TMC community. We have solutions that will serve all distributors needs, with much more to come in the near future.”
Since acquiring the RESX business in November of 2011, Rich Miller, who has been a Board Member of nuTravel since 2010, has been brought onto the company’s staff in a official capacity as its Chief Strategy Officer.
Miller brings 30 years of experience from AMEX, including building and running its Online Interactive Travel Platform.
“Rich brings a tremendous wealth of knowledge with him from not only running a large division, but also in the area of OBT’s directly related to product knowledge, sales and marketing and building out a large infrastructure to handle the substantial growth nuTravel is undergoing,” said Carpanzano.
“nuTravel has an account management team, however, we are putting a lot of emphasis around growing this area”, said Miller, referring to the RESX acquisition and subsequent re-brand.
“In bringing the two groups together, we have picked up some economies of scale and are capitalizing on this. We will have a focus on adoption, refreshing customer sites, communicating new features and functionality and listening to the customer base and their needs. This will drive new revenue to both nuTravel and the distributors”.
“We have already seen an uptake in net new client sites and net new transactions which is ahead of our financial projections,” Miller added.
